Waiting for Wisdom
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. - James 1:5
Even as believing Christians, we can find ourselves in situations that we do not understand. The last thing we want to do is make a wrong move and hinder progress. We walk in faith which means we do not always see what is ahead. But the word also says that faith without works is dead. (James 2:17) So, we want to know exactly what our acts of faith should be. Thanks be to God; we have an invitation to come to Him for wisdom. So, in great expectation and excitement, we sit quietly and attentively when listening to His word. We do not want to miss our instructions. We are eager to hear what He would have us to do so we can become empowered to do it.
Here is what to do when in this condition:
Pray. Simply ask God for direction and clarity. He is waiting to hear from you and wants to provide the guidance you need. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Read His word. We may need help with interpretation, but the answers are in the bible. Do not hesitate to consult with your pastor or a ministry leader.
Wait. God may not answer right away. Do not rush it or make hasty moves. Trust that He will come through. (Psalms 27:14, Isaiah 40:31)
Know that God is not the author of confusion. (1 Corinthians 14:33) Continue to look to Jesus. He is the answer for all your questions.
