Safety in Uncertain Times

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. – Psalms 37:25

As people get vaccinated they feel safe to leave their homes and spend money. They are shopping and planning to travel. The economy is rebounding. Yet, according to a report, some of our basic needs are more expensive, like housing, food, and gas. Some operating companies are struggling to find enough employees to conduct business because people were drawing more money through unemployment benefits. It looks like the road to recovery will be a bumpy one.

We have never seen a time with so much happening simultaneously. Yet, whether it was a widespread crisis or an isolated, personal event, we have seen hard times in the past. I can remember a time in the early 2000s when I started a work week with only $11.00. That is all I had to buy lunch each day and gas to get back and forth to work. I do not remember the details of how I made it, but I did. I remember when a hurricane came through the city. For a while, no one could find gas or ice and the power was out for weeks. Somehow, we got through it and we are still here. Just as God brought us through then, He will take us through whatever lies ahead. Here are some ways for believers to stay in position for God’s provision:

  • Never stop giving Him praise; mainly because He is worthy, and He inhabits our praises. In His presence we can receive provision. (Psalms 22:3, 34:1, 67:5-6)

  • Do not forsake His temple. Continue to pay tithes and offerings. (Proverbs 3:9-10)

  • Continue to walk by faith and know He will take care of you. (Philippians 4:19)

Our God is faithful. He promised to never leave or forsake us. We can depend on Him to see us through. Rest in Him.
