More Blessed Than You Think

The liberal soul shall be made fat:  and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.  – Proverbs 11:25

When I was in college I had to do an assignment.  My instructor gave the class a list of countries and geographical regions.  We had to write three facts about each one.  Concerning one country, the encyclopedia said it had one of the highest standards of living in the world.  When I read that I thought, “Highest standard of living in the world…I wonder what that’s like”.  I decided that I wanted to visit that country some day.  As I completed my assignment, I had to look up facts about the United States.  The same encyclopedia stated that Americans, also, enjoy one of the highest standards of living in the world.  Then, I realized that I really did not have to visit that other place.  I was already living in a blessed country.  I, also, realized that I take things for granted.

Many of us are more blessed than we think we are. We may say that we do not have enough to give or share with others. However, it is likely that you take what you have for granted and fail to see how it could benefit others. Even if you do not have much please understand what this verse says. Basically, it says if you give, or are generous, then the benefits will come back to you. (It says you will be made fat, which means prosperous.) Helping others during this time is a great opportunity to receive. This is not the time to store up, save, and keep everything for you. (Proverbs 11:24) Trust God, and share what you have. He will make sure that you do not go without.
