Justice for the Oppressed
The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. - Psalm 103:6
Yesterday I heard a report that the president is developing a plan to reunite families who were separated at the Mexican border. Immediately I felt ashamed and hurt because that situation has not been on my mind for quite some time. It is unfortunate that, as current events unfold, earlier events no longer get the attention they deserve. My heart goes out to those families, and I pray an efficient plan will be in place really soon.
The pandemic has been a top priority, as it should be. It has devastated people’s lives. Many are sick while others are grieving the loss of loved ones. However, there are other issues demanding attention. There are those who are grieving the loss of their loved ones due to a mass or police shooting. They are waiting for answers and justice. I, also, pray that plans will be developed to prevent guns from being so easily accessible. I want to see changes within law enforcement so those who are authorized to carry and use guns no longer abuse that authority. Police officers should have a greater respect for all lives. When it is necessary to shoot, then shoot to disarm or disable instead of shooting to kill. Officers should not be permitted to shoot a person multiple times. There are other issues I could mention, but social media is not the appropriate platform.
After enduring 2020, I think we all want to experience more peace in our lives, this country, and throughout the world. Among other things, it requires righting our wrongs. We must show a greater respect for one another no matter who we are. Using our power and authority to oppress others has to be eliminated.
By the way, African-Americans are still waiting on reparations for slavery.
