Learning to Trust
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, has not forsaken them that seek thee. - Psalm 9:10
It is easier to trust someone once you get to know them, and they prove to be trustworthy. That is, basically, what this verse is saying. People who know God put their trust in Him, because we know He never fails us. Our history with Him shows His consistency. You may be someone who wants to learn to trust Him and live by faith, but you do not know how. The truth is, no matter who we are, we all have a history with God. Unfortunately, He is often taken for granted, and we are not aware of all He does for us. He does not make an announcement each time He blesses us. Therefore, we do not give Him credit as we should. So, become more cognizant of the truth that God is the one who protects you in your home. It is not the locks on your door. When you get in your car and go to the store to get bread and milk, it is God who allows you to have a safe trip. It is God who wakes you up each day and protects you while you sleep. It is God who provides the air we breathe. I could go on and on. I believe once you acknowledge His blessings, you will recognize His commitment to you. You will learn to trust Him. It is a process, and trusting can be a challenge. Yet, He will always prove faithful. Eventually, you grow to the point that you are willing and ready to go and do what He tells you to. In difficult times you can honestly say, “As long as I know I am headed in the right direction, I will wait on you, Lord.” Now, learn to trust God by counting your blessings. You will have a more peaceful life.
