Doing Good

As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. - Galatians 6:10

Sometimes, doing good can be challenging. Others who are not as good seem to prosper over you. I have lived with this fact for years. But, the truth is, although God owns all the wealth of the world, His kingdom consists of righteousness, peace and joy (Romans 14:17). He said if we seek His kingdom first, then other things would be added (Matthew 6:33).  So, I continue to live in righteousness and please God.  I trust that He will reward me in His time.  There are other, quicker ways to prosper.  However, those ways do not come with peace.  I have learned that peace is more valuable than material wealth.  Also, God’s blessings come with security (Proverbs 10:22).  As long as we handle them the right way, we do not have to worry about losing them.  When people prosper through wicked means, eventually, they often lose what they gain (Psalm 37:35-37).

Another issue is not being appreciated for the good you do.  This is another fact that I have lived with.  People will overlook you.  Sometimes, it is not intentional.  But, I rest in knowing that God sees everything I do.  My reward will come from Him.

It is important to understand what “good” is in different situations.  Sometimes, the most good you can do for someone is to deny them.  Ask God for wisdom.

Doing good definitely pays off.Be persistent and keep the faith. When necessary, pat yourself on the back.Do not give in to the wicked ways that only come to a wicked end.God’s blessings will come in due time.
