Marriage Covenant
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. - Proverb 3:7
Genesis 18 - 24 speaks of the first marriage. The institution was created and ordained by God as a lifetime covenant between one man and one woman. It should exemplify the relationship between Christ and His temple. (Ephesians 5:25) However, today marriage has been altered to fit the desires of people. Same-sex marriage is legal and accepted in many states. Is this okay? Well, we must be careful of getting carried away with our own thinking and wisdom, because this leads to ungodly actions. Please consider that we have trademark and copyright laws intended to prevent someone from stealing and profiting from another person’s ideas and inventions. If we try to protect our own, why do we think it is fine to take what God created and rearrange, redesign, and reconstruct it to suit ourselves?
Deuteronomy 30:15 says, “See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil”. Understand that God presents us with both choices. It is not that God presents life and good while Satan presents death and evil. God gives us the right to choose either. We have a God-given right to be wrong. So, even though homosexuality and lesbianism are an abomination to God (Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:24-27), He still allows us to make those choices. He does not force us to do what pleases Him. Unfortunately, people make the grave mistake of making choices that do not please God, yet trying to force society and Him to accept it as right. Society may accept your evil choices. However, God never will, and He is the righteous judge. As an adult, you can choose to be committed in a same-sex relationship. However, it is not marriage. Call it something else, know that God loves you, but He does not approve.
