Restored Life
In 2 Kings 4:8-37, the Shunammite woman and her husband showed kindness to the prophet, Elisha, by providing a place for him to stay in their home when he was in the area. Because of their hospitality toward him, he wanted to do something for them. They were an elderly couple with no children. Once Elisha’s assistant brought this to his attention, Elisha prophesied to the woman that she would have a son. She did not want to accept it; however it happened just as Elisha prophesied. Years later, when her son was older, he died. Through the power of God, Elisha was able to revive him!
There can be times when a blessing that you did not request or expect causes pain in your life. Like the Shunammite woman, you think ‘Why did you do this to me? I did not ask for or expect this’. In fact, it was against the odds that you received the blessing in the first place. Now, it seems you’re left empty-handed and grieving the loss. But the God of the temple is a wise God. The blessings ordained by Him do not come with sorrow. (Proverbs 10:22) In faith, go back to the source for clarity and guidance. What seemed to be a loss can become a miraculous resurrection. Is it really over? Death can’t kill whom/what God wants to live.
