In and Out of Season

Referring to Mark 11:12-14, I wondered why Jesus cursed the fig tree for not having any figs when it was not the season for them to grow. Now I understand it was because He was hungry. However, the fig tree followed protocol and failed to meet the need. When something needs to get done or needs to be said, that is not the time for excuses like “It’s not my job” or “It’s not my turn”. If the person authorized to do or say it is not available or fails to come through, then someone else has to step up. Don’t get so stuck on protocol that you fail to meet the need. 

With that in mind, don’t be so quick to dismiss someone for breaking protocol or being out of order. Their disorder may have been necessitated by someone else’s failure. If every man does his own job, no one else will have to do it for him.
