Friend or Foe

And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? - Joshua 5:13

I've never been one to take the "trust no one" attitude. It's unhealthy and unrealistic. There isn't much you can accomplish without connecting with someone else. You gotta trust somebody. Yet, there are times when it's hard to tell friend from foe. Maybe there are past hurts, or like Joshua, you've been in a long battle/struggle trying to get to your destination. You can be right there at it, but you're tired. At times like this, be careful of reacting too soon. Do as Joshua did and come straight out and ask, "Who are you?", "Where do we stand?", "Can I trust you?" Because, everybody is not an enemy. Someone who may have been an enemy before can change. You don't want to ruin a potentially good relationship. So, when in doubt, get clarity. And if you can't trust their answer, that's your answer.
