Forgive and Stand Strong

But the Lord is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge. - Psalm 94:22

As a Christian, you may go through a season with ongoing persecution. To the average person this would be tiring. However, with the Lord’s guaranteed help, you can stand under the pressure. While it is unpleasant to endure, resist the urge to retaliate. Meditate on God’s word and keep your peace of mind.

Consider Psalm 94:21-23. Although there are those who gather for the purpose of coming against the righteous, be assured of the following:

  • The Lord is your defence. He is impenetrable and invincible. Therefore, your persecutors efforts will not amount to anything.

  • God is the rock of your refuge. You have a stable place where you can repeatedly go for shelter from the attacks. The Lord can provide such a covering that you may not even be aware of all you enemies are doing. They will lose sleep (Proverb 4:16) while you rest in God’s protection.

  • God will bring their attacks to an end with their downfall. As they continue to come against you, remind yourself that everything they do will come down on them. It is just a matter of time.

With all of this in mind, there is no need to try and avenge yourself. God promised to handle it. Also, there is no need to hold grudges. It may be easier said than done, but continually forgive. Why forfeit your peace for people who do not have peace themselves. Instead, do as God does; laugh at them. (Psalm 37:13)
