Be Lowly to Be Lifted
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. – 1 Peter 5:6
Humility is a quality that is misunderstood by many. Some think it means speaking poorly of themselves. Some think it means living with only their basic needs met. Others attempt to show their humility by refusing to accept any role that puts them in the forefront. Humility is not speaking poorly of yourself but speaking of yourself truthfully or not at all. It is not living with only your basic needs, because God wants us to enjoy abundance. Refusing leadership positions is not an act of humility. Rather, if in leadership, do not draw attention to yourself nor abuse the power and authority you hold. A humble person does not put themselves down nor do they lift themselves up. Humility is being who God says you are and enjoying what God has given you while maintaining a healthy, respectful attitude towards others. It may seem that humility leads to being overlooked, ignored, or unappreciated. Be assured that God sees you and knows the intents of your heart. In His time, He will lift you up. And when God says it is your time you cannot be denied.
