A Mother's Time

The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing. – Psalms 34:10

I have learned that in a pride of lions, the lionesses do the hunting. When they find and kill their prey, the adults eat first. Then, if there is anything left, the lion cubs eat. Therefore, many cubs go hungry or even starve to death. The adults are not acting selfishly. They eat first because they understand that they need their strength in order to protect and care for the pride.

As mothers, our lives can be really busy. Unfortunately, we become so busy that we fail to take care of ourselves. We must learn that it is not selfish but necessary. Being replenished and refreshed enables you to continue giving to others. We do not have to handle everything ourselves. Rather, make God a priority. Spend adequate time with Him. He will minister to you, give you wisdom on how to do what you have to do, as well as the strength to do it. He has a plan you can trust and will make sure that no one starves or goes hungry when you eat first.

May you enjoy a restful Mother’s Day!
