Anger Management
A fool’s wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame. – Proverbs 12:16
This verse says a fool is quickly overcome by their anger and reacts impulsively. On the other hand, a prudent person practices self-control and avoids what would be shameful behavior. To be the prudent person, it is important to consider Ephesians 4:26 which says, “Be ye angry and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath”. It is not a sin to be angry or even wrathful. However, nothing good is likely to happen if you act or react out of anger. It is an emotion that will pass. When it does, you are able to think more clearly and rationally. Then, you can better determine the appropriate response.
While you should not be consumed by anger, you should not allow your anger to settle inside of you. You must find a healthy way to let it out. This is a mistake many people make. In their efforts to control their emotions, they hold them in with no expression. At some point in some way or another, their emotions come out in an inappropriate manner.
So, to avoid being foolish, do not be controlled or overcome by your anger. Maintain your composure, think through the situation at hand, and express yourself the right way.
