God is On Our Side
… If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31
Living a godly life includes being persecuted. (2 Timothy 3:12) There is no way to avoid it. Especially on social media platforms. People feel free and empowered to say what they want to whomever they want. The key is to keep the right perspective. Here are some points to consider:
Persecution can be perverted respect. People must see some value or potential in you. Otherwise, they would not give so much of their efforts and energy toward you. For example, as Christians, God’s light shines through us. Everyone sees the light including enemies. Yet, an enemy will focus on something minor like, “You’re too loud”.
Persecutors have problems within themselves. What comes out of us is what is in us. (Titus 1:15)
Persecution can be the result of envy. Sometimes, when people have not been successful in their own endeavors, they will try to hinder yours. Those who have something positive going on in their own lives do not give negative attention to others.
While persecution is not pleasant and may seem overwhelming, it does not deserve your focus. Persecutors do not have the ability to defeat the people of God. You are not alone. The One who matters most is standing with you. Be assured that God is not only with you but for you. Continue to do what pleases Him. Do not be a leader who is led by followers.
