Appreciating Divine Connections

And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother’s house: the Lord deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me. - Ruth 1:8

Fulfilling the call of God on our lives requires being connected to the right person or people. It is important that we join with those with whom we have agreement. (2 Corinthians 6:14) However, finding that person or people may not be so obvious. This is another reason to follow the spirit of God. We must trust Him to lead us to the one place where we belong.

Consider Naomi and Ruth. Initially, Ruth became Naomi’s daughter-in-law in Ruth’s native country of Moab. The day came when Naomi decided to return to her country, Bethlehem. Both her daughters-in-law were following her. Unfortunately, Naomi underestimated their connection and what she had to offer. Therefore, she encouraged them to return to Moab. One daughter-in-law did. However, Ruth seemed to sense that her life would be better if Naomi and she remained together. Although they were from different countries and different cultures, she refused to return. And she was right. They both were restored through their relationship. Because of their connection, Ruth and Boaz were joined and continued the lineage through which Jesus was born. Ultimately, the world got to know God better through them. So, allow Him to show you your people and dwelling place. Be willing to leave and cleave to stay alive and thrive.
